In another phenomenal debut the recent Golden Globe Best Picture winner (for a drama) grossed $4.3m in four days on 225 screens - an average take of $19,130 per screen - in Russia. The debut was an astonishing 53% higher than The Two Towers' debut. The four day total represents 49% of the final cumulative gross of the last film. The Return of the King also opened in the Ukraine taking in an astonishing $548,735 from just 39 screens in four days.
